Alfalfa Checkoff

Alforex Seeds is one of 26 U.S. alfalfa seed marketers who voluntarily support the U.S. Alfalfa Farmer Research Initiative managed by the National Alfalfa and Forage Alliance. The goal of the National Alfalfa Checkoff Program initiative is to raise funds via a checkoff to invest in public research for alfalfa and alfalfa forage systems. Potential research projects include improvement of yield, water conservation, development of new storage and harvest systems, creation of new uses, and other research areas holding the potential to advance the alfalfa and alfalfa forage industry.

The checkoff rate is $1.00 per fifty pound bag of seed which Alforex Seeds adds to the invoiced price of all Alforex® Brand alfalfa seed. Twice a year Alforex Seeds forwards the collected checkoff dollars to U.S. Alfalfa Farmer Initiative to be combined with dollars collected by the other 25 participating seed marketers. Since the Checkoff’s inception, the dollars have been collected by all supporting brands and distributed for public research.

Periodically a review panel from the U.S. Alfalfa Farmer Research Initiative will solicit potential research projects and award checkoff funds to support selected projects and researchers.

Alforex Seeds strongly urges its Dealers and their customers to forward potential ideas for research projects to the National Alfalfa and Forage Alliance for consideration. These are your customer’s dollars so encourage their identification of local needs and participation in the process. Send ideas to:
